Seeds to Community

Having native plants in your community is a joy, no matter where you live or what your background. Seeds to Community is about sharing knowledge and materials to propagate native plants from seed, making them accessible to everyone who is interested. Seeds to Community offers regular opportunities to collect local seed and learn about seed cleaning and stratification, planting, growing, and sharing. In the past three years, thousands of native plants of over 130 different species have been spread throughout the community through this program.

Hands-on events are scheduled around nature’s cycles of gleaning, sowing and sharing. This enables participants to learn about the natural cycle of botanical life, expand habitat, and build community. Community partner agencies and groups include: Washtenaw County Water Resources, Washtenaw County Conservation District, City of Ann Arbor Natural Area Preservation, Ann Arbor District Library, Adapt, the University of Michigan School for Environment and Sustainability, Matthaei Botanical Gardens, Wild Ones Ann Arbor Area, and more. Seeds to Community is funded through donations and has its fiduciary home in The Stewardship Network.
