Volunteer Hands-on Stewardship Opportunities in the Area
Below are some of the many local organizations that need volunteers for native plant stewardship.
City of Ann Arbor Natural Area Preservation (NAP)
Natural Area Preservation (NAP) works to protect and restore Ann Arbor’s natural areas and to foster an environmental ethic within the community. This involves conducting plant and animal inventories, ecological monitoring, and stewardship projects in Ann Arbor parks. These tasks are performed by both staff and volunteers. NAP works to protect and restore Ann Arbor’s natural areas and to foster an environmental ethic among its citizens, which includes conducting plant and animal inventories, ecological monitoring, and stewardship projects in Ann Arbor parks. These tasks are performed by both staff and volunteers: Adopt-a-Park, burn training, salamander monitoring, trail maintenance, and control of invasive species.
Huron-Clinton MetroParks
So many parks, so little time. Standout Metroparks in the Ann Arbor area include Dexter-Huron, Hudson Mills, Delhi, and Huron Meadows. For email updates on volunteering, register: here.
Huron River Watershed Council
Volunteers help us collect samples and data that we will be used to advocate for the health of Huron River watershed.
Matthaei Botanical Gardens and Nichols Arboretum
Scroll through the variety of volunteer opportunities that include eco work days focusing on invasive plant removal.
Washtenaw County Conservation District (WCCD)
WCCD is dedicated to assisting land owners by providing education, technical assistance, and leadership in conservation management. WCCD provides opportunities for “drop in volunteers” to help execute distributions and events.
Washtenaw County Parks & Recreation Nature Stewardship
Over 3,500 acres of parks and nature preserves offer abundant opportunities for combining work and play. These lands were set aside through two separate millages voted on by the citizens of the county.
